Directives Traversée 2026

The Crossing is fast approaching!

1. Departure: Scheduled from Miguasha Beach, east of the wharf (154 Rte. Wafer, Nouvelle), Saturday, August 15, at 9:30 a.m. (Atlantic Time) / 8:30 a.m. (Eastern Time). The pre-race meeting will take place at 9:10 a.m. on the beach. Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the start, which is 8:45 a.m. (Atlantic Time) / 7:45 a.m. (Eastern Time).

2. Swimmer Tracking: Once again this year, we will be using the Traccar app. You will receive a personalized link via email. It will take you to a webpage that explains the steps to follow to register.

This mobile tracking app allows the rescue team, the organizing committee, and your supporters to track your progress in real time during the event. Please follow the instructions and register by Friday, the 14th, in the evening. Be sure to charge your phone the night before to ensure your battery doesn’t run out during the swim; otherwise, your tracking will be interrupted.

The link to the webpage displaying the swimmers’ tracking information will also be sent to you. You can share it with your family and friends if you wish. This link will be posted on our website and on our Facebook page.

3. Friday Evening Meeting: You’re welcome to join us on Friday, August 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the Bistro des chalets Le Nid du Héron (6 Heron’s Nest Street, Charlo, NB). Your kayakers are welcome. Attendance is not mandatory. The drawing for the two pairs of tickets to Saturday night’s concert will take place during this meeting. Winners will be contacted that evening.

This will also be an opportunity to help you if you’re having trouble registering your device with the tracking app. A team member will be available to assist you with registering your device.

4. Saturday morning: We can also help you register your phone with the tracking app, but we might not have enough time. You'll need to have the Traccar app installed beforehand.

5. Kayaks: As a REMINDER, a kayak accompanying you is mandatory for this distance. Swimmers without a kayaker will not be allowed to start. If you have not been able to find a kayaker, please contact us by Thursday, August 13. We will do our best to provide you with a kayaker, but we cannot guarantee it. Your kayaker must be at least 16 years old, know how to swim, and wear a life jacket.

6. Wetsuits: As a REMINDER, wetsuits are not mandatory, but are strongly recommended. Please note that if the water temperature is below 18°C at the time of the race, wearing a wetsuit will be mandatory, swimmers without wetsuits will not be allowed to start. Please make arrangements to be prepared for this possibility. The water temperature will be measured when the buoys are placed. The website will be updated to clearly indicate whether or not a wetsuit is required. Be sure to check it on Friday evening.

7. Switching Distances: If your training didn’t go as planned (or for any other reason), you can reduce your distance to 3 km or 1 km. Please let us know of any changes by Thursday evening, August 13. You can find the guidelines for your new distance on the Chaleur Bay Crossing website.

8. Saturday Morning Shuttle: For those who have requested the shuttle service, departure is at 7:20 a.m. (Atlantic Time) / 6:20 a.m. (Eastern Time) from Charlo Beach. The organizing team will be on site shortly before 7:00 a.m. at the “Northwest” parking lot (orange dot on the map). Please let us know in advance if you no longer wish to use the shuttle service.
